Blogpost 1: Essence of the music

Today we will tackle about one of the necessities in a person’s life. Yes, I know during our elementary years, we were taught scientifically and socially that shelter, food, an air will only be the top necessities of a human. But I guess that isn’t enough. Looking back probably around B.C, A.D or century old times, music has been part throughout our lives. You might think that K-pop singers or Linkin Park existed during those times? Well, music isn’t just about lyrics and instruments that plays with it, it’s also about the essence of it in every part of our life.

Music can was once and still using a powerful tool that makes us unites… makes us one. Music is air, it’s everywhere. Music comes with uses and not just genres. For an instance, our native brothers from the remote areas of Baguio play an instrument that definitely produces music. Every music has its own usage. For example, the sound of their handcrafted drum made from a goat’s skin played together with their own version of maracas, a type of music that it creates is used for celebrations like having a wealthy farm. For me, music can be compared to signature dish (in culinary world) whereas it is created artistically and passionately that makes the heart and soul as one.

I read an article states that music affects our mood. An article from www.spring.org.uk  called SevenWays Music Influences Moodby Saarikallio S &Erkilla J. The article talks about how music influences the behavior of a human and how it reacts to different types of music. The author also mentioned that some people have their own style of listening to music that appreciates or feels the essence of music which will help them relieve their stress and boost their inner emotion. One of the great goals of listening to music is that it improves their mood and it can actually make us control our emotion in a certain situation. They also stated that, "consider is that sad music might promote rumination. Rumination is the constant examination of emotional state which, ironically, can lead to less clarity. On the contrary, however, Saarikallio and Erkkila found that music increased the understanding of feelings, an effect not associated with rumination." Being sad puts a person in an emotional state whereas he/she cannot think clearly, rationally, and intellectually. Music affects our mind and body, for example, if we hear a love song, tendency is we miss the one we love.

Another article that I’ve read was called “How music affects our moods” by Suzane Boothby from www.healthline.com, The article talks about how music affect our mood to a certain type of music and also music help us boost our inner mind and soul just by listening to the upbeat music she mentioned that music is part of our culture or it could be part of our DNA that help us regulate our mood, every type of music has a type of different mood when you listen, "The popularity of music festivals and online sites like Spotify and Pandora shows just how much music is part of our culture, but researchers continue to find that music can also be an integral part of our health." Music is in every in inch of the world. That’s why musicians try their best to create an artistically expressive way of their feelings through the sound of music. The composition on every piece is technically created to express if a piece would convey a sad or happy tune. Everything in music is all related to us despite of the genre. I strongly believe that music can say what the things that we cannot express.

I've learned that music is not just a piece of  art that was created technically and expressively, it also plays a role in the essence of our culture. Music does makes us one despite the indefinite list of genres, it makes one and that it simply expresses our feelings without saying a word. Music also serves as a powerful tool used to elevate our senses and be a different state of mind since it changes and affect our moods.
